“I donated around 1200 ounces with babe #1 and around 500 ounces with babe #2. I feel so blessed to have been able to share my surplus with the special babies that need it the most!” –Wendy
“I was the first person to donate my breast milk to the MMAW … I gave birth to identical twin girls on August 31st, 2005 … they were born at 25 weeks. Nora died on Sept. 1st from an overwhelming infection and Brynley died on September 8th from a massive brain bleed. After the devastating loss of our first born children, my husband and I decided that we needed to do something with the breast milk that I had been pumping for the girls … we are so grateful that our precious little girls gave so many other babies the gift of life.” –Katie
“So far we’ve taken 1423 oz of breastmilk to the depot in Mt. Horeb!! We’re SO glad that this is available for us to help other babies who need mommy’s milk!” — Colleen
Pre-screened donor milk goes from moms’ freezer to the freezers of the depots of the Mothers’ Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes in Wisconsin and Illinois. Beginning in fall 2015, the frozen milk will then be transported to the Milk Bank WGL in Elk Grove Village to be processed and pasteurized.
