Donor Mom Maritza shared her touching story of donation after loss with us, we are forever grateful for her to sharing both her story and donating her milk to babies in need.

After my daughter was born and diagnosed with a tumor in her heart, she had to be intubated. I wasn’t producing enough milk and one of the labor & delivery nurses asked if I had thought about giving her donor milk. Which led me to call WGL, they provided my daughter with donor milk for her first week of life.

Sadly on December 9th, 2020 she passed and my donor milk journey began. My daughter Jolene Rosie made this beautiful journey possible. It started with me donating all of the accumulated frozen milk we had at the hospital where Jolene was before she grew her wings. Every drop of my donated breast milk is a kiss to heaven for my daughter, and ounces of hope for the beautiful babies that are in need of it.

In addition to her donations from 2020, Maritza has donated her excess milk from Jolene’s 2 siblings (pictured at their most recent drop off) and was able to share a total of 1,076 ounces of liquid gold.
